The Break the Silence Surf Comp returns on 7 February 2026 for a day of surfing, connection, & purpose. As a non-profit event supporting The Shaka Project, we raise funds for men’s mental health while creating a space where everyone comes together, feels supported, & valued.
The Break the Silence Surf Comp is a non-profit charity event featuring 48 surfers with heats starting from 7am. A coffee cart and BBQ kick off from 7:30am, Red Bull arrives at 10:30am, and the after party runs from 4pm into the evening.
Our mission is to create a safe and supportive space where surfing brings people together and conversations about mental health are encouraged. Through community and connection, we aim to raise awareness, break stigma, and support men who may be struggling.

The event goes beyond surfing, bringing people together to spark conversation, build connection, and highlight the importance of mental wellbeing in our community.

From surfers to spectators, the event creates space for people to connect, share moments, and feel supported through shared experiences and genuine community spirit.

As a non-profit event supporting The Shaka Project, the competition raises funds and awareness to help men access support and feel less alone.
